> Fourth, regarding the dharmadhātu realized: it refers to realizing the sense of the dharmadhātu as neither increasing nor decreasing. Vasubandhu's commentary states, 'That is, within this, when defilements decrease, there is no decrease, and when purities increase, there is no increase.' Asvabhāva's commentary states, 'There is no function outside of phenomena, so it does not increase; phenomena are not destroyed, so it does not decrease.' Asvabhāva's latter explanation is identical to Vasubandhu's. The Madhyāntavibhāga says, 'Due to penetrating this completeness, one realizes the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas, seeing not a single dharma increase or decrease among pure and defiled dharmas.' Explanation: this agrees with the Daśabhūmika-śāstra. The Cheng weishi lun says, 'This refers to this suchness being free from attachments to increase and decrease, not increasing or decreasing according to defilement and purity. This is also called the suchness upon which mastery over signs and lands relies; that is, once one realizes this suchness, one attains mastery over manifesting both signs and lands.' Vasubandhu's commentary states, 'Attaining mastery among signs is called mastery over signs, because whatever sign is desired immediately appears. Attaining mastery over the lands manifested is called mastery over lands, because if one wishes a land to be made of jewels like gold, it is accomplished according to one's wish.' Explanation: 'signs' refers to signs such as manifesting bodies, while 'lands' refers solely to the container world and the like; the text below on this bhūmi fully contains the three worlds, the ten masteries, and so forth.
