The first two know the receptacles to be transformed; the next two accomplish the deeds that can transform; the next two manifest the Buddha and supernatural powers; the next two expound the Dharma and know the destinies; the last two manifest forms in response to thoughts. Second, regarding 'there are ten kinds of immeasurable and inconceivable samādhis,' abiding in this dharma is samādhi, and functioning in that dharma is function. Moreover, this samādhi is itself function; hence it is difficult to conceive. Within this: the first two concern persons and dharmas; the next two concern time and place; the next two concern the Buddha's three karmas pervading the dharmadhātu while speaking of manifestation and non-manifestation in all places and so forth; the next two concern the dharmas of principle and phenomena; the ninth is samādhi in transcending the world while constantly manifesting worldly adornments; the tenth is samādhi in sentient beings while constantly arriving at the Buddha's realm. Third, regarding 'there are ten kinds of unobstructed liberations,' when obstructions and hindrances are exhausted, it is called unobstructed; when dynamic function is free, it is called liberation. If in the teachings of the three vehicles it is said that the Buddha has eight liberations and so forth, they are not subsumed here. These ten inexhaustible gates are the liberation of the One Vehicle, which should be known accordingly. The first two manifest the Buddha expounding the Dharma; the next two tame sentient beings and manifest lands; the next one bestows vyākaraṇa after taming; the next three manifest the supporting and primary environments and supernatural powers of the buddhas of the three times; the last two manifest that which can transform and that which is transformed in the three times. These, with respect to phenomena, are the power of the fusion and interpenetration of the dharmatā; with respect to wisdom, they are the power of the Tathāgata's ease. Truly, because this wisdom penetrates that Dharma, unobstructed and perfectly interpenetrating, it can be like this; this is spoken with respect to the perfection of fruition. If it is what bodhisattvas partially obtain, like Vimalakīrti's inconceivable liberation, all belong to this category.
