> Second, regarding the evoked verification, there are two parts: first, evoking auspicious signs; second, verification. Each of these two has two parts, namely: this land, and universal conclusion. In the first, evoking \[signs\], there are three: first, the cause, namely the Buddha's power and the Dharma's power; second, shaking the earth; third, raining down offerings. Question: This assembly was spoken in the Paranimmitavasavatti Heaven; for what reason does the universal conclusion state that it was like this four-continent world where the Buddha sat in the bodhimanda? Answer: Because the foot of the Bodhi tree is the origin, the conclusion returns to it. Furthermore, although he ascended to heaven, he did not depart from the tree of awakening. If so, why are the previous ten bhūmis and the like entirely unlike this? Answer: The previous were in terms of the shared teaching, universally concluding both the heavenly palace and that tree of awakening, speaking of the origin and branch together; this is in terms of the distinct teaching, gathering the branch back to the origin, relying solely on the bodhimanda. The intention lies here; the 'Chapter on Nature Manifestation' below and others all share this explanation. In the second, verification, there are also three: first, the two powers as the cause, which are the same as before; second, the number of persons who arrived; third, from 'speaking such words' onward, praise, narration, verification, and the universal conclusion, etc., all of which can be understood.
