> In the tenth, the coronation dwelling, first, in raising the Dharma and encouraging practice, the city named Lion Rapid Strides refers to the marks of mastery in the samādhi's virtuous function. A maiden is a mark of purity and chastity due to the completion of the stage and freedom from defilement. Maitrāyaṇī is translated here as "Compassionate Maiden," named so because her virtuous wisdom is inwardly perfected and the mark of compassion is outwardly manifest. The Indian text names her Maitrāyaṇā, translated here as "compassionately saving beings." That text also states: This girl's father was named Siṃhadhvaja, meaning she was a king's daughter, because the stage was fulfilled.
