> Second, from "all those bodhisattvas" onward, in requesting the subsequent progression and advancement, there are also two parts: first, asking about the essence of the practices to be accomplished; later, asking about the virtuous functions when the practices are accomplished, since destroying folly and the like constitute the virtuous functions. Within the former, first is the proper question, and later the concluding request. Within the former, the ten phrases form three groups: The first five concern benefiting oneself while also benefiting others. 1. Asking how to cultivate and practice in accordance with the Buddhas, causing them to rejoice. The words "cultivate and practice" are both general and specific: generally, they pervade all the phrases; specifically, they mean urging diligence, which corresponds to the explanation of non-negligence in the answer below. 2. Asking about according with the Dharma to enter the stations. 3. According with practice. 4. According with vows. 5. According with virtue, because accumulating virtue constitutes a treasury. The next four concern benefiting others while also benefiting oneself, bundled into two pairs: first, constantly expounding the Dharma without abandoning one's own practice; later, being mindful below of the four kinds of born beings, and propagating above the Triratna. The final phrase generally concludes that the two benefits are not in vain. Second, from "Son of the Buddha" onward, the concluding request can be understood.
