> Third, from "abiding in the ultimate of all Buddhas" onwards explains abiding in the Buddha's dwelling, which is contemplating the Tathāgata's virtue of unprompted Buddha-activities and unceasing exertion. In order to attain the above-mentioned non-abiding nirvāṇa, it is explained next. In the text, it first explains the dwelling place, and afterwards reveals the benefit of abiding. In the first, speaking of "abiding in the Buddha's dwelling": the noble, heavenly, and Brahmā dwellings are all dwellings of the Buddha, yet he well and universally abides in emptiness and great compassion; great compassion's nature of emptiness is none other than the Buddha's home, and hence he is able not to abide in saṃsāra or nirvāṇa, which is the ultimate dwelling. This is the virtue of grace. Therefore, Śīlabhadra also calls it 'contemplation', meaning that the virtue of taming and converting constantly abides in great compassion, surveying the world during the six periods of the day and night. Afterwards, from "causing incalculable" onwards reveals the benefit of abiding in this home. First, it explains that by abiding in great compassion, he is able to benefit beings without exception; this is the meaning of 'unceasing'. By abiding in the nature of emptiness, he is spontaneously free from effort, and therefore can cause beings to abide in non-discrimination. Surpassing all sentient beings comprehensively reveals his supremacy.
