大方廣佛華嚴經疏 28.51

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [28.51](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1735.28.51)

四十四為王斷殺等。施行中，自住三聚淨戒，令他住於五戒，是為法施。五戒殺初，故此偏語。若望所殺，是無畏施。

> Forty-four: For a king to eliminate killing and so forth. In the practice of giving, personally abiding in the three clusters of pure precepts and causing others to abide in the five precepts constitutes the gift of Dharma (dharma-dāna). Among the five precepts killing comes first, so this is spoken of specifically. In relation to those being killed, it is the gift of fearlessness (abhaya-dāna).
