> Third, the analogy of the heavenly drum awakening beings illustrates the ninth, 'uninterrupted voice,' because entering pervasively into the dharmadhātu, its transformation is without end. The analogy and the correlation each have three parts: 1. that which can awaken; 2. the benefit of awakening; 3. concluding function to return to essence. Second, in the correlation from 'It should be known...' downward, there are three parts: first, correlating that which can awaken, there are separately eleven sounds, whose meaning is divided into four sections with two interpretations: first, the first two pertain generally to the five vehicles, the next six pertain generally to the three vehicles, the next one pertains generally to the first and second vehicles, and the last two pertain exclusively to the Great Vehicle. Second, the first section corresponds to humans and devas, and the remaining three sections are matched with the three vehicles. Next, from 'innumerable...' downward correlates the benefit of awakening. Finally, from 'Yet the Tathāgata...' downward correlates concluding and returning to essence: because of not abiding in directional space and so forth, it is able to pervade universally above. Therefore the Mahāyānasūtrālaṃkāra states: 'If the voice of the Buddha were an existent dharma and not non-dharma, it could not reach universally throughout the ten directions; because it is the contrary of this, it is able to.'
