> Fourth, determining the names and meanings of the assemblies: Although there is no preaching by the Buddha in the various assemblies below, by subsuming the branch under the root, they may also be called 'sūtras'. This is because Mañjuśrī's origin came forth from this \[initial\] assembly, all the \[good\] friends attained benefit at the root assembly, and the Bodhisattvas pervade everywhere without departing. If so, why does the text below state that Sudhana should be gathered back to the multi-storied pavilion, yet he is seen at the Bodhimaṇḍa? It is because bodhi is the root of all the assemblies. Once the task undertaken has reached its end, the branches are subsumed back into the root, not to mention that the diverse assemblies do not stir from the site of enlightenment.
