> Ninth is the pariṇāmanā of liberation without bondage and without attachment. The good friend is named Mahādeva because he manifests a great body. Free from bondage and attachment, his wisdom is pure and sovereignly master, hence he is called a deva (god). In accord with noumenon he universally responds, hence he is called mahā (great). His wondrous functioning is hard to fathom, hence he is called a spirit. He is in the city of Dvāravatī, which here is translated as "Possessing Gates," meaning that it possesses these subtle Dharma gates such as non-bondage, because he is a dharmabhāṇaka. The first two may be known.
