> As for the commentary's "The Abhidharmahṛdaya agrees with the Kośa," it is because the first fascicle of that treatise has this verse, with only slight differences in text. The verse of the treatise says: "Extensively expounding the aggregates of dharmas, / their number is eighty thousand. / Morality and so forth and the remaining aggregates / are all subsumed under the five aggregates." The prose commentary explains: "The eighty thousand aggregates of dharmas are all subsumed under the aggregate of form, because the Buddha's speech has the nature of verbal karma." Some say that having the nature of names, they are subsumed under the aggregate of conditioning factors. Furthermore, the aggregate of morality is subsumed under the aggregate of form, and concentration, wisdom, and so forth are subsumed under the aggregate of conditioning factors; therefore it agrees with the Kośa. In the commentary, from "The Abhidharmakośa says" downward, it cites the text of the Kośa. Why is this proof cited in the context of the teaching of names and so forth? Because the Kośa has no preference in sentiment, employing the two meanings as appropriate. Citing it here doubly verifies the previous two, since it admits that both are valid. Taking them below as the third \[view\], as the essence of the four dharmas, is easy to understand in the text.
