- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [15.6](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1736.15.6)

> Regarding the commentary's phrase “matter and non-matter, speech and non-speech,” etc.: matter and non-matter are juxtaposed against voice, names, and so forth; that is to say, among what constitutes the essence, if voice is taken as the essence, it is subsumed under the aggregate of form (rūpaskandha); if names and the like are taken as the essence, they are non-form aggregates. Now neither of these can be determinately fixed. Speech, non-speech, and so forth are additionally juxtaposed against the essence of all dharmas manifesting meaning: voice, names, sentences, and phonemes all belong to speech; the efficacy of all dharmas manifesting meaning is non-speech, etc. Now, because worlds and categories differ, they cannot be determinately fixed.
