> Regarding the Commentary's statement, "First, penetrating the conventional through the cognition that accords with quantity," and so forth: "entering" has two meanings: first, penetrating; second, realizing. Hence, one enters the conventional through penetration, and enters the ultimate through realization. Regarding the characteristics of the two cognitions, the Mahāyānasaṃgraha says: "Like a person first opening their eyes, this is named preparatory cognition. Like a person closing their eyes, this is non-conceptual cognition. When that same person opens their eyes again, subsequent cognition is likewise so. One should know that, like empty space, it is non-conceptual cognition; forms and images appearing within it, subsequent cognition is likewise so."
