> On the Commentary's "It also says: 'Just like empty space reaching everywhere'..." and so forth: citing this single passage also corroborates two meanings: the two similes of omnipresence and adapted entrance. In the simile, the sūtra next explains: "Why is this? Because empty space has no body." In the application, it cites it in abridged form. Fully stated, it says: "The Tathāgata's body is also just like this: it pervades all places, pervades all sentient beings, and pervades all lands, neither arriving nor not arriving. Why is this? Because the Tathāgata's body has no body; for the sake of sentient beings, it manifests its body." Now, it is cited only briefly, sufficient to corroborate the meaning of omnipresence. "Neither arriving nor not arriving" is equanimous adapted entrance: that is to say, because it has no body it does not arrive—not arriving is equanimity; not not arriving means it does not obstruct arriving—this is the meaning of adapted entrance.
