> Regarding the Commentary's line: "Splitting open the sūtra scroll within a dust-mote: thought-moment by thought-moment the fruit is achieved": this is the seventh \[benefit\], revealing the benefit of the fruit achieved from the cause; that is, the simile of the great sūtra hidden in a dust-mote in the "Tathāgatotpattisaṃbhava Chapter" (Manifestation of the Tathāgata). The sūtra verse says: "Just as there is a great sūtra scroll / Equal in measure to the three-thousandfold world / Remaining within a single dust-mote / And all dust-motes are likewise so; / There is a person of intelligence / Who with pure eyes sees it clearly / Breaks open the dust-mote and brings out the sūtra scroll / Universally benefiting sentient beings. / The Buddha's wisdom is also like this / Universally present in the minds of sentient beings / Entangled by false conceptualizations / Neither perceiving nor knowing it. / The Buddhas, with great compassion / Cause them to eliminate false conceptualizations; / In this way it appears / Benefiting all bodhisattvas." The sūtra also says: "One should know that within one's own mind, in every thought-moment there is always a Buddha achieving correct awakening. Why is this? Because all Tathāgatas, Buddhas do not depart from this mind to achieve correct awakening." When thought-moment by thought-moment there is correspondence, then thought-moment by thought-moment \[the fruit\] is achieved.
