- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.29](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1736.2.29)

> In the Commentary, "'Broad' (guǎng) matches the essence and is all-pervading": this is greatness of function. Because function is like essence, there is nowhere it does not pervade. Yet it also has two meanings, because the essence has two meanings: first, being able to encompass; second, being able to pervade. Just as empty space encompasses myriad phenomena and pervades all places, now function matches the essence's encompassing, so that a single dust mote receives boundless worlds. Second, matching the essence's pervasion, a single instant extends throughout the dharmadhātu without end. The three characters above are the unimpeded essence, characteristic, and function, serving as the dharmadhātu that is realized.
