大方廣佛華嚴經隨疏演義鈔 24.35

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [24.35](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1736.24.35)

疏「望前應身即重化」者，應身對法報，應身是化身。今於應身上起化，故云重化。如釋迦是應身，如涅槃受供，於其毛端現多化佛，即重化也。

> Regarding the commentary's statement, "Relative to the preceding response body, this is a manifold transformation": the response body is contrasted with the dharma and reward \[bodies\]; the response body is a transformation body. Here, transformations arise upon the response body, and therefore it is called a manifold transformation. For instance, Śākyamuni is a response body; when receiving offerings in the \*Nirvāṇa-sūtra\*, he manifested multiple transformation buddhas at the tips of his hairs, which is precisely a manifold transformation.
