> Regarding the Commentary's statement 'non-glutinous rice grows spontaneously' and what follows, this is the subsequent text of the sūtra above: 'When the great king ascended the precious throne, / he broadly delivered all beings; / oily clouds covered the eight directions, / and widespread rains were fully abundant.' This reverses the ten unwholesome deeds into the ten wholesome deeds. Among them, reversing stealing states: 'In the past all sentient beings / were impoverished and had few clothes, / covering themselves with grass, / emaciated with hunger like hungry ghosts. / Once the great king arose in the world, / non-glutinous rice grew spontaneously, / wondrous clothes grew from trees, / and men and women were all adorned.' This is that matter.
