> On the commentary’s "Some say it is answered by the 'Life Span Chapter'", this is the third master's position. Within this, there are two parts: first, establishing it, and second, refuting it. The former has four parts: first, directly establishing it; second, "Moreover, the Buddha's names" and below, which cites evidence; third, "Merely citing this beginning" and below, where that master fends off objections—fearing someone might object: "In the present sūtra there are millions of asaṃkhyeya layers; how can this substantiate the meaning of the ten realms?" he therefore provides this reconciliation; fourth, "This serves as the foremost" and below, which explains and accomplishes the meaning of "summits".
