> On the commentary’s "Its equal cause and effect" and below, this resolves a problem and objection. The objection states: "If based on the questions there are three sections, the third section should solely clarify the result. Now there is the 'Samantabhadra's Practice Chapter' as the cause and the 'Manifestation Chapter' as the result, forming of themselves a section of equal cause and effect. How can they now both be taken to answer the question concerning the result?" Therefore, this reconciliation is provided: since the cause is the cause that attains the result without being abandoned, the cause within the result is also subsumed by the result, and therefore belongs to the third part—the result accomplished. Moreover, the ancients conformed the text to the meaning in drawing out this cause and effect; as for the commentary's original intent, it entirely belongs to the result, which will be clarified again below. On the commentary’s "The statement 'according with categories' has three meanings", the commentary text has two parts: first, explaining the three meanings, and second, concluding on the comprehensive and restricted. In the former, first, according with the differences in what is suitable to those with doubts means the application of the Dharma differs. According with what is favored differently by a particular category of persons, one accommodates transformation according to what is suitable. Thus the sūtra says, "For various sick persons, a skilled physician prescribes accordingly," which is giving medicine according to the disease. The phrase "or manifesting forms to let them see" is answering by displaying marks. "Using sounds to let them hear" is answering by verbal proclamation. These are both explicit responses. "Silently aiding to let them understand" is an implicit response. Combining the above three altogether, it responds simultaneously and suddenly, because the dharmadhātu is completely illuminated and manifested suddenly.
