- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [29.22](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1736.29.22)

> Regarding the commentary's "if there is no single principle to thread through them, karma and afflictions are ten thousandfold disparate": Master Daosheng says, "Whenever an intention arises in accord with principle, it is called good; when contrary and discordant, it is evil. The ten thousand goods share the same principle and mutually subsume one another; eliminating differences, their boundaries are vanished." Such is this meaning. Regarding the commentary's "before entering the stage of forbearance, there is always a propensity to fall": the Kośa says, "Heat definitely reaches nirvāṇa; the summit never severs the wholesome \[roots\]; forbearance does not fall into evil destinies; the supreme enters into the separation from birth." Only in the third of the four roots of goodness does one escape hell; hence we know that the body which is the locus of suffering possesses the propensity of hell.
