疏「能住例知」者，上辨四句，唯住有句具住不住義，下三皆略，若具住無，應云：亦不住無，無即有故，故能住無。契無實故。俱句云：故能住有無，契二實故。俱非句云：故能住非有無，契非有無實故。

> Regarding the commentary stating, "Able to abide can be known by analogy": above, four propositions were analyzed; only the proposition of abiding in existence provided both abiding and non-abiding meanings, while the lower three were all abbreviated. If fully providing for abiding in non-existence, one should say: "Also not abiding in non-existence; since non-existence is precisely existence, one can therefore abide in non-existence, tallying with the reality of non-existence." The proposition of both would say: "Therefore one can abide in both existence and non-existence, tallying with the reality of both." The proposition of neither would say: "Therefore one can abide in neither existence nor non-existence, tallying with the reality of neither existence nor non-existence."
