- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [39.4](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1736.39.4)

> Regarding the commentary's "Second, explaining the name," the text has four parts: first, directly explaining the name; second, identifying its essential nature; third, concluding and establishing its original name; and fourth, distinguishing differences in contrast to what came before. As for the first, there are three \[explanations\]: 1. General explanation: If translated according to this land, it should be named "pure practice" (jingxing), yet to distinguish it from what came before, the Sanskrit sound \[brahmacaryā / fanxing\] is retained here. 2. The true realm is brahma \[purity\]: this is explained in terms of the causal stage. 3. Nirvāṇa is brahma: this is explained in terms of the contrast between cause and fruit. All may be understood.
