> Regarding the commentary's statement, "If one individually contemplates the reason for non-existence, as in the second samādhi of the chapter 'The Ten Samādhis'": This refers to the fortieth fascicle of the sūtra: "Because a bodhisattva knows that all dharmas are devoid of self, this is called entering the dharma of no life-principle and no agent. Because a bodhisattva diligently cultivates the dharma of non-contention in all worlds, this is called abiding in the dharma of no self. Because a bodhisattva sees according to reality that all bodies arise from conditions, this is called abiding in the dharma of no sentient being. Because a bodhisattva knows that the arising and ceasing of all dharmas are produced from conditions, this is called abiding in the dharma of no pudgala. Because a bodhisattva knows that the intrinsic nature of all dharmas is equal, this is called abiding in the dharma of no manomaya and no māṇava." Explication: This is precisely the individual contemplation of the reasons for non-existence.
