疏「假實既殊故雙舉之」者，出用四所以也。謂聲為實，名句文假故，即總取四法為教體義耳。疏「又假實相依」者，重釋用四所由。名等依聲得有曲屈，故名等為能依。若無名等，空有一聲不能詮表，故非教體。則聲依名等，故云假實相依。

> Regarding the commentary's words "Since provisional and real differ, both are adduced together": this shows the reason for using four \[elements\]. That is, sounds are real, whereas names, phrases, and syllables are provisional; thus, it takes all four phenomena collectively as the meaning of the teaching-essence. Regarding the commentary's words "Furthermore, provisional and real rely on each other": this re-explains the reason for using the four. Names and the rest rely on sound to have inflections, so names and the rest are the dependents. If there were no names and the rest, mere sound alone could not express meaning, so it would not be the teaching-essence. Thus sound relies on names and the rest; hence it says that the provisional and the real rely on each other.
