> Regarding the Commentary's "Second, relinquishment through the antidote" and so on: compassion is giving joy; therefore, the treatise states: "The antidote refers to giving (dāna)." The Commentary says: "Then one even relinquishes one's own material wealth to bring peace to the other." "Taking oneself as the measure": if I am robbed by another, a hundred anxieties arise; so this is compared to the other sharing the same worry and suffering as myself. Regarding "other has two meanings": the meaning must have two aspects, yet the treatise and sūtra only say "not destroying another's wealth." The treatise states: "Because of non-greed, one does not destroy future material wealth." Because other persons are obvious, the treatise does not explain it.
