> The Commentary's 'However, delusion has two aspects,' etc., distinctly clarifies the characteristics of delusion. The Commentary's 'Moreover, not knowing...', etc., completes the above point on delusion preceding greed and anger; this represents the intention of the \*Lotus Sūtra\*. That sūtra states: 'Although the father had compassion and gave gentle words of inducement, the children took pleasure in playing games and refused to believe or accept them; they were neither alarmed nor afraid, having no intention of leaving at all. Nor did they know what fire was, what the house was, or what loss was; they simply ran back and forth playing, only glancing at their father.' However, the fire in that sūtra encompasses both cause and fruition; hence that sūtra says: 'In order to save sentient beings from the fire of the three poisons—birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, and distress.' Here it directly clarifies the fire of the three poisons. Precious toys and consumption are also the fire of fruition; hence that sūtra states: 'Also due to the wealth and profit of the five desires, they suffer various pains.' 'Loss' refers to not knowing that one has lost the dharmakāya, and also not knowing the faults of suffering and its origin. Here it directly clarifies the arising of delusion, which is why the Commentary does not cite it. 'What the house is': the house represents the five aggregates, which is used in the subsequent text.
