> Regarding the commentary's "If according to the Hīnayāna" downward: it distinguishes differences according to the teachings. Thus the Kośa says: "The first two have the bliss of pliancy", which shows that the previous treatises all referred to the feeling of bliss (sukha-vedanā). From "Furthermore, this directly severs" downward clarifies its appropriateness; this also fends off an objection. The objection says: Being subsumed in the same manner, why not raise neither-grief-nor-joy to subsume suffering and bliss? The reply says: First, among the five sensations there is no distinct name; second, the bliss it opposes is near, whereas grief and suffering are far, having been severed previously.
