> In the second, the fruit of the stage, regarding the commentary's phrase, "the realization knowledge tallying with suchness as a concrete event is pure gold": the treatise says: "The light of knowledge of this stage / Manifests suchness as a concrete event. / As the sūtra says, 'O sons of the Buddha, / It is, for example, like pure gold,' etc." Commentary: Realization knowledge is pure gold. Suchness is the principle that is tallied with; knowledge is the concrete event that tallies. Because the concrete event harmonizes with suchness, it is called "suchness as a concrete event." Pedagogical knowledge can manifest the aforementioned suchness as a concrete event, and hence is like mother-of-pearl.
