> Regarding the commentary's "The above ten gates" and so forth: second, differentiating according to teachings, which incorporates the five teachings. Touching upon the provisional is the initial teaching. Approaching the real applies to two: one is the final teaching, because the final teaching is also called the real teaching. Subsuming characteristics into nature also applies to the sudden teaching, because the latter three teachings are all identical to the One Vehicle and both exclude the provisional; the sudden is also called real. The final three being completely interfused is the perfect teaching. As for stating "unshared": the perfect teaching has two aspects: first, the shared teaching; second, the distinct teaching. "Distinct" is unshared, being unshared with the real and the sudden. Second, the shared teaching is shared with the sudden and shared with the real. Here it reveals that it is the distinct, hence it says "unshared." Regarding the commentary's "If, looking downward, it is shared with the various vehicles" and so forth: this is explained in terms of interfusion. If, looking downward, it is shared with the shared-teaching One Vehicle, it encompasses the next three that approach the real. If it is shared with the three vehicles, it also encompasses the first four, because the perfect teaching is like an ocean encompassing all, lacking nothing.
