> Regarding the Commentary's 'This is in terms of understanding and confusion': understanding is the wholesome cause, and confusion is the unwholesome cause. Right view is non-delusion among the three wholesome roots; definitively giving rise to wholesome karma is non-greed and non-anger; not definitively giving rise to the wholesome is the indefinite. The Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: the single item of wrong view definitively gives rise to unwholesome karma, and hence is definitively wrong. Second, slight good and evil are taken as indefinite. As for 'The former three wholesome roots are called indefinite': among the four wholesome roots, only the supreme worldly Dharma definitively enters into the abandonment of rebirth, and hence the \[first\] three are indefinite.
