> In the commentary, from "Tripiṭaka Master Paramārtha" onward, the sixth cites Paramārtha. Within this, it first states that "empty space is an analogy for the three dharmakāyas": just as empty space, space has three meanings: first, the meaning of accommodating, like the svabhāva-dharmakāya not obstructing saṃsāra; second, the meaning of boundlessness, like the manifested dharmakāya, meaning that although it has attained manifestation it is not yet ultimate, just as space has clear areas and dusty or misty areas, like the dharmakāya within the path universally resolving the middle path within delusion; third, the meaning of purity free from dust and mist, like the dharmakāya of the noble fruition. The statement "cloud is an analogy for the cognition of the three paths" means that wisdom is like a great cloud, just as the cognition of suchness has three meanings: first, naturally attained before the path; second, cultivational attainment within the path; third, ultimate attainment after the path. The word "pervades" in the text means that the naturally attained cognition of suchness pervades the principle of suchness; "fills" means that the cultivational cognition of suchness fills the principle of suchness; "covers" means that the ultimately attained cognition of suchness covers the principle of suchness. When object and cognition match each other, the cloud is rain. Rain has three meanings: first, capable of removing dust, meaning that the self-nature cognition before the path is pure and undefiled; second, capable of washing away defilement, eliminating evil karma within the path; third, capable of sprouting seeds, after the path being capable of sprouting the shoots of suchness. Furthermore, empty space is like the dharmakāya, and the cloud is like the nirmāṇakāya.
