> Regarding the Commentary's statement 'Muzhen translates here as liberation' and so forth: the eighth fascicle of the Record of the Western Regions states, 'From the pool of the dragon king Mucilinda, the water is clear and dark, and its taste is sweet and delicious. On the west bank is a small vihāra with a Buddha statue inside. In the past, when the Tathāgata first attained perfect awakening, he sat here peacefully in samādhi for seven days. At that time, this dragon king guarded and protected the Tathāgata: he coiled his body seven times around the Buddha, and manifested multiple heads to bend forward and serve as a canopy. Therefore, on the west bank of the pool, there is his chamber.'
