> Regarding the commentary's "Fourth, morality and concentration extinguish heat": from "This is solely concentration" downward, it synthesizes and specifically reveals the aspects of function. Within this there is pure morality and dhūta; that the commentary text is mostly elliptical is to distinguish what accomplishes and what is accomplished. That which accomplishes is the Tathāgata's compassion and so forth; that which is accomplished is the bodhisattvas' compassion and so forth. For instance, in the Buddha it is upāya, in the bodhisattva it is deep resolve; in the Buddha dhyāna is the leaf, in the bodhisattva pure morality and dhūta are the leaves; in the Buddha it is bodhi as the fruit, in the bodhisattva it is anutpattikadharmakṣānti and so forth.
