> Regarding the Commentary's phrase 'the next four seek the vehicle that benefits both and eliminates hindrances', the first verse has three meanings: 1. the practice of Samantabhadra completely adorning the essence of the One Vehicle; 2. compassion not harming beings, hence it says 'revolving gently'; 3. the above two being without conditions, hence wherever it turns there is no timidity, because one does not fear that sentient beings are hard to transform or that the ten thousand practices are hard to cultivate. The next verse has three meanings: 1. prajñā realizing principle is as firm as a diamond, and severing afflictions that obscure principle is as sharp as a diamond; 2. skillful upāya, established based on the fundamental, is like an illusion, and severing afflictions that obscure phenomena is like the cleverness of a carriage; 3. endowed with these two paths, both hindrances are extinguished, which is why it says 'everything unobstructed'. The next verse is conditionless compassion: giving joy is compassion; its universal bestowal is called vast; being conditionless, it is pure. Just as an empty space inside a carriage carries everything, so it is like empty space, equal to the dharmadhātu. The final verse, severing the three defilements, subduing Māras, and restraining non-Buddhists, all takes the meaning of the two wheels crushing and destroying.
