> Fifth is the contemplation of the ponds. Within this there are five: first, explaining the substance of the ponds; second, explaining the characteristics of the ponds; third, explaining their conforming to the mind and suiting desires; fourth, explaining the benefits; fifth, concluding the contemplation. "Mani" is the wish-fulfilling jewel. The "eight virtues" are: light, clear, cool, soft, delicious, not foul, soothing when drunk, and causing no illness once drunk. Clear is the sense-entrance of visible form; not foul is the sense-entrance of smell; light, cool, and soft are the sense-entrance of touch; delicious is the sense-entrance of taste; soothing and causing no illness are the sense-entrance of mental objects (dharmāyatana).
