> Four, from 'Having seen the sun' down to 'distinct and clear', explains the signs of the contemplation's completion. This explains fixing the mind on seeing the sun, checking thoughts and removing conditions, without shifting from moment to moment, so that the pure marks manifest distinct and clear. Furthermore, when practitioners first see this sun while in concentration, they attain the bliss of samādhi concentration, and body and mind melt together within and without, beyond conception. When seeing this, they must properly gather the mind into concentration and must not give rise to greed and grasping in their minds. If they give rise to greed, the water of the mind is disturbed, and because the mind is disturbed, the pure realm is lost. Or it becomes unsteady, or dark, or black, or assumes colors such as blue, yellow, red, or white, unable to settle into stability. Seeing this happen, one should reflect: 'The agitation and instability of these marks of the realm are caused by the stirred thoughts of my greedy mind, which bring about the disturbance and disappearance of the pure realm.' One then steadies one's mind in right mindfulness, beginning again from the start, so that the marks of agitation are eliminated and the tranquil mind manifests once more. Knowing this fault, one must never again give rise to heightened greed. For all the contemplations below, correctness and error, gain and loss, are just the same as this. When contemplating the sun, seeing the sun with mind and object in mutual accord is called right contemplation. When contemplating the sun, not seeing the sun, but instead seeing other miscellaneous realms so that mind and object are not in mutual accord, is called false. This Sahā world is a dark abode; among all things encountered, there is nothing to compare with it. There is only the bright sun spreading its radiance, by which one can project one's thoughts to mark Sukhāvatī far away.
