> " 'The ocean of all Buddhas' true and universal knowledge is born from mental contemplation.'" "True and universal knowledge" (samyak-saṃbuddha) is one of the ten epithets. There is no supramundane dharma that it does not exhaust; it is profound and vast without limit, and hence is compared to an ocean. The Buddha's virtues are boundless; he briefly cites universal knowledge to subsume the rest. All the myriad virtues of the person of fruition are born from mental contemplation; the intent is to encourage ordinary mortals below to cultivate and practice with single-minded diligence, so that their efforts will not be in vain. Fourth, concluding with an exhortation that cultivating the cause must rely on the fruition virtues.
