> Answer: "It is not that there are no other Buddha-lands; it is out of concern that a multitude of objects would distract the minds of sentient beings. Thus the Suiyuan wangsheng jing says: 'Among the sentient beings of this place, those who have faith and inclination are few, and those who practice heresy are many; their minds and intentions are unsettled.' Therefore, to make sentient beings focus their minds on a single place, it was singularly praised. Furthermore, if it were said that there are pure lands everywhere in the ten directions, the minds of sentient beings would become lax; if there is only one place, their minds will be earnest."
