- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.71](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1758.2.71)

> The Praise says: The third \[part\] is transmitting harmonious and elegant melodies. 'The six periods of the day and night' means day and night each have six periods, making twelve periods in all. 'Produce harmonious and elegant sounds': 'harmonious' means soft and gentle; 'elegant' means fine melodies. The spiritual birds of the West are unlike ordinary birds; their melodies are soft and gentle, and their words are elegant and wondrous; hence it is said that they 'produce harmonious and elegant sounds.'
