> Sengliang comments: There should not be a noble silence. In the Viśeṣacintā-\[brahma-paripṛcchā-sūtra\], because all dharmas are empty, it is called noble silence; here there is no corresponding antithesis. Sengzong says: If there were a self in saṃsāra, when it was investigated and questioned, why was there silence? Baoliang says: One should not grasp it as the Vātsīputrīya renunciants do. Statements such as these encourage practitioners to infer the principle and thereby accord with the Middle Way.
