### [4.65](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1763.4.65)

案法瑤曰：前三難明極已未極不得等也，此一難明受用不受用也。受用則獲五果，不用則無不應等也。僧宗曰：受用者則有所資，資故消化，施主還得無常果也。若無受無資，應迹而已，理獲常報也。

> Fayao comments: The previous three objections clarified that having reached the ultimate versus not having reached the ultimate cannot be equal; this single objection clarifies receiving and using versus not receiving and using. Receiving and using brings the five fruits; not using brings none, so they should not be equal. Sengzong says: One who receives and uses it has something that nourishes him; because it nourishes, it is digested, and the donor in turn obtains an impermanent fruit. If there is no receiving and no nourishing, it is merely a manifested trace, and in principle one secures a permanent retribution.
