> Sengliang states: He matches the name to explain the meaning. The mind being neither existent nor non-existent within causes is the middle path of the conventional truth. Discussing the nature of the mind itself: because it arises from conditions it is existent, and because it does not arise from itself it is non-existent; this is the middle path of the ultimate and conventional. If spoken of from the perspective of the root of emptiness: this existence is also non-existent, and this non-existence is also non-existent; this is the middle path of the ultimate truth.
