> From here below, the tenth \[section\] clarifies the supreme worldly dharmas. This person also possesses \[both the qualities of\] abiding and observing the directions, though the text is concise and does not discuss \[them\]. "Next, he obtains the supreme \[worldly dharmas\]": this takes up what precedes and introduces what follows; the utmost culmination within the mundane is called the supreme worldly dharmas. Next, in discerning their nature, the scripture texts differ. Some scriptures say that the nature is the five aggregates, the meaning of which is explained as above. Other scriptures say that the nature is the five faculties, namely faith, vigor, mindfulness, concentration, wisdom, and so on. Wisdom is the principal master, and the rest accompany and assist it. "Also observing the four truths" discerns the meaning of observing the directions. The supreme worldly dharmas comprise only a single thought-moment; other treatises proclaim that beneath the truth of suffering they observe only a single aspect. For what reason is it now said that they observe the four truths? It is explained: Contemplation of the truths has two kinds: first, cultivation through practice arising in the present; second, cultivation through attainment accomplished in the future. In the present cultivation of the supreme worldly dharmas, one observes only a single aspect; but in the future, by virtue of collateral association with the four truths, illumination increases. It is now called observing the four truths in terms of cultivation through attainment.
