- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.26](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1764.2.26)

> In the second part, which is an analogy for the Buddha's ability to cure, first the state of intoxication is cured; from "Returning to oneself" onward, the faults of intoxication are removed. In curing the state of intoxication, the "excellent master" is a simile for the Buddha; preaching the Dharma and bestowing it upon people is called "giving medicine to take"; receiving the Dharma and practicing it is called "having taken it"; abandoning delusion and afflictions and not grasping at false objects is called "vomiting the wine". In removing the faults of intoxication, awakening to the understanding that one's own essence is fundamentally pure is called "remembering oneself", which reverses the earlier statement "without self-awareness"; knowing and recognizing relatives and strangers is called "recognizing", which reverses the earlier "not recognizing relatives and strangers" and so forth; "harboring shame and remorse in the mind, deeply reproaching oneself" and so forth reverses the earlier "dazed and confused, wanton and disorderly" and so forth. Negligence in speech and lying in feces and filth are briefly not overturned here.
