> Below, it explains the delusion and error: 'this is called suffering.' This generally explains the delusion and error: being deluded about the real gives rise to suffering, and is therefore called suffering. The explanation begins from 'Why?': 'Because of not knowing, one sees non-dharma as dharma, and dharma as non-dharma.' This clarifies that there is a cause of suffering. 'Not knowing' is just another name for delusion. Being deluded about the Buddha's dharmakāya, thinking it is a body of alimentary sustenance and not the dharmakāya, is therefore called 'seeing dharma as non-dharma.' The unreality and nothingness of saṃsāra is 'non-dharma'; falsely grasping it as existent is therefore called 'seeing \[it as\] dharma.' 'One should know that this...' and so forth below clarifies that there is a result of suffering. 'Will surely fall into the wretched destinies' is the result in the three wretched realms. 'Transmigrating through birth and death' is the result among humans and devas. This former pair is the cause and result of general retribution. 'Increasing all fetters' again clarifies the cause of suffering; 'undergoing much pain and affliction' again clarifies the result of suffering. This latter pair is the cause and result of particular retribution. Alternatively, the former pair is the result of fragmented \[birth and death\], and the latter is \[that of\] transformational \[birth and death\].
