> Next, the truth of origin is clarified. First it is raised, and below it is explained; in the explanation, it is again revealed in terms of the foolish and the wise. The text has three pairs: first, clarifying the delusion and awakening, gain and loss, of the foolish and the wise; second, clarifying harm and benefit; third, concluding with wrong and correct. In the first pair: first delusion, then awakening. In the delusion: first, the statement 'in the true Dharma, does not generate true wisdom' clarifies delusion regarding the truth of origin. The nature of the tathāgatagarbha is that true Dharma; having no intention to awaken to and understand it is called 'not generating wisdom.' From 'accepting impure \[things\]...' below, it clarifies that delusion entails loss. Therein, from the beginning up to 'not knowing the nature of dharmas,' it clarifies that there is a cause of origin. 'Accepting impure things, namely male and female slaves,' clarifies lack of \[proper\] practice; from 'being able to call non-dharma dharma' below, it reveals lack of understanding. Being able to call non-dharma dharma and so forth is not understanding the dharma of practice; through this cause and condition, one does not know the nature of dharmas and does not recognize the dharma of principle. From 'because of not knowing...' below, it clarifies that there is a result of origin. First, it clarifies undergoing suffering; from 'not obtaining...' below, it reveals the loss of happiness: 'not being able to be born in heaven' is the loss of worldly happiness, 'and right liberation' is the loss of supramundane happiness. In the awakening: first, the statement 'if one has deep knowledge' clarifies knowing the truth of origin; knowing the true nature of origin is therefore called 'deep knowledge.' From 'not destroying...' below, it clarifies that awakening entails gain: 'not destroying the true Dharma' clarifies the absence of the cause of origin; from 'by this cause...' below, it clarifies the absence of the result of origin: 'being able to be born in heaven' means the absence of the result in the three wretched realms, 'and right liberation' means the absence of the result among humans and devas.
