> Regarding the section explaining that the bodhisattva does not require instruction, in the text there are distinctly three \[parts\]: first, because the person is able to subdue Māra, he does not require instruction; second, from "agada" onward, because the power of the Dharma extinguishes heterodoxy, he does not require instruction. In the former, there is first an analogy; from "studies the Great" onward is the application; from "having heard" onward is the explanation. Therein, it first explains that with wisdom profoundly luminous, hearing the sūtra one is not terrified, hence not requiring instruction; from "Why is this?" onward, having planted blessings long ago, toward Māra one has no fear, hence not requiring instruction. In the subsequent \[part\] explaining that the power of the Dharma extinguishes heterodoxy, it first sets up an analogy: the "person" is an analogy for the bodhisattva; the "medicine" is an analogy for the Mahāyāna; "does not fear snakes," etc., clarifies that the person has no fear; from "is also able to eliminate" onward reveals that the Dharma can extinguish \[heterodoxy\]. In the application, "Mahāyāna" corresponds to the agada; "does not fear Māra," etc., corresponds above to not fearing all snakes, etc.; from "is also able to subdue" onward corresponds above to being able to eliminate all poisons, etc.
