自下第二就勝進心明異世間，先問次辯，後總結異。辯中，初先總舉六念，守境名念，佛等六種生念境界故名念處。次列六名，義如別章，此應具論。六中，前三是所學法，次二所行，後一所求。

> Below, the second part explains how it is distinct from the worldly in terms of the mind of superior advancement: first an inquiry, next an explanation, and finally a general conclusion on its distinctness. In the explanation, first it generally raises the six recollections: holding onto an object is called 'recollection' (smṛti); the six kinds of objects, such as the Buddha, give rise to recollection, hence they are called 'bases of recollection' (smṛty-upasthāna). Next, it lists the six names; their meanings are as in the separate chapter and should be fully discussed here. Among the six, the first three are the dharmas to be studied, the next two are what is practiced, and the last one is what is sought.
