- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [8.19](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1764.8.19)

> Third, the simile of ordinary beings being deluded. "Because of folly, the monkey goes and touches it with its hand": among the five sense faculties, one mostly looks at its form with the eye first. "Having touched it, it is stuck": seeing it, love arises. Speaking of "wishing to be freed": the five faculties grasping objects and alternating with one another is called "wishing to be freed"; it is not wishing for liberation. Touching objects, all are greed—this is called sticking. "Thus in all five places it cannot be freed": attachment arises in all five faculties.
